The Art of BASIC VOICE CLASSIFICATIONTM

What Type of Voice do you Really Have?

Before you train your voice, understand it.
Every voice has a natural design—its own weight, color, range, timbre, acoustic properties and possibility of growth. Yet many singers spend years training without ever truly knowing what kind of instrument they have. The result is often confusion, unnecessary strain, or progress that feels inconsistent.

The Art of Vocal Classification and Fach brings clarity where guesswork usually reigns.

Are you a soubrette mezzo, a spinto soprano, a dramatic tenor, a baritone Martin, or a basso buffo?
What vocal range could you realistically and healthily develop?
Where does your voice naturally excel—and where should it never be forced?

This program guides you step by step toward a precise understanding of your voice, using the classical Fach system informed by vocal anatomy, physiology, and musical tradition.

When training aligns with your voice type, technique stabilizes, progress accelerates, and vocal health is preserved.

The Foundation of Healthy Voice Development

Vocal classification is not a restriction. It is orientation. It helps you understand:
  • your natural vocal weight and color
  • your optimal tessitura
  • how your registers function
  • which technical approaches suit your instrument
  • which repertoire and exercises truly serve your voice

Relevant for all genres

Although rooted in classical tradition, vocal classification is indispensable for modern singers in:
  • classical
  • musical theatre
  • pop
  • rock
  • crossover

Program Features

The Art of Vocal Classification combines depth, structure, and practical insight:
  • in-depth video lessons on voice types and Fach categories
  • structured quizzes for intelligent self-assessment
  • ebook lessons grounded in vocal science and tradition
  • practical assignments exploring range, tessitura, and vocal color
  • examples from world-famous singers
  • guided self-assessments to recognize patterns in your own voice
The aim is not to give you a label—but to give you direction.
For singers who want certainty, not assumptions

Especially Useful For:

  • singers unsure of their voice type
  • advanced singers refining their artistic identity
  • singers experiencing vocal strain or instability
  • teachers seeking deeper classificatory insight
  • serious singers who value precision and longevity
Now understanding your voice becomes the starting point of true vocal freedom.

The Art of FACH VOICE CLASSIFICATIONTM

Tailored for your personal voice type

As an extra gesture to you for enrolling in our programs, we're offering you an even deeper insight in your unique voice in an extra program, custom - tailored to your unique, personal voice type.

This second Voice Classification course focuses on Fach Classification, exploring how different bass, bariton, tenor, controalto, mezzo or soprano fachs function across classical and contemporary genres. Rather than treating fach as a label, the course explains the underlying vocal principles that distinguish one soprano fach from another.

Through focused lessons on the main fachs and a guided assessment, you gain insight into how your voice naturally behaves and where it thrives. The curriculum connects the traditional fach system to modern repertoire choices, helping you understand vocal limits, development paths, and stylistic suitability—without forcing the voice into an artificial category.

The course concludes with a structured self-evaluation, offering clarity and direction for singers who want to make informed, healthy, and repertoire-appropriate choices.

You will be automatically enrolled in this second program after you have entered your voice type in Basic Voice Type Classification.
For example: if you found out you're a tenor, you will automatically be enrolled in the Tenor Fach Voice Classification program.

This extra program will enable you to get to know your own unique instrument even more, so you will make good repertoire decisions and you can start training your voice, the way it should be trained.

"Irene quickly takes her students to a higher level"

I have been taking lessons from Irene for several years now and have learned a lot during this time.
Every aspect of breath support, sound placement, resonance and overal vocal technique has been explained and practised in her useful lessons.
Besides the fact that Irene quickly lifts her students up to a higher level, she is also a very sweet and inspiring woman.
She is flexible, her enthusiasm is contagious, and her lessons are so enjoyable. Thank you!

“Enormously impressed by her knowledge”

Today I had my first vocal lesson with Irene de Raadt.
I am enormously impressed by her knowledge and way of teaching.
Time to practice!

Susanne Johnson

Musical vocalist and actress, played in "Wicked", "Hamilton", "Oh, Mary"!" and "Sweeny Todd", amongst others on Broadway.

“Fabulous, very detailed teaching”

When I was in Amsterdam for a few months, I wanted to continue improving my voice. By referral from a friend, who had had singing lessons from Irene for over 3 years and who I have seen to make amazing progress, I started lessons with Irene, and kept going the full summer. I have to say I have never experienced such an amazing teacher. Not only is Miss Irene a gifted accompanyist, she taught me things I never really got down in my years of vocal training in New York. Her teachings are very detailed and her way of working on expressive technique and breath support is fantastic.
These were the most valuable months I spent in vocal training.

I am very thankful and can highly recommend her!

You helped me enormously in developing my voice and I have learned a lot in the lessons over the past years. Thank you!

"An experienced, super skilled vocal teacher"

I have enjoyed taking lessons from Irene for many years. Together we worked a lot on my technique and made beautiful recordings.
In the lesson she gives you great exercises, for example for sound creation and resonance, correct posture and breath support.
Extremely important!  I have improved a lot as a singer as a result.
She coached me through my blockages with a number of songs (that I would never have dared to try), which helped me get much further than I thought.
But perhaps the most important thing is: Irene has given me pleasure and self-confidence in singing again.
And I am very grateful to her for that!
So if you are looking for an experienced, super skilled and enthusiastic singing teacher, I can highly recommend Irene!

Stefano

Singer songwriter, American idol

"Fantasic workshops"

I took vocal lessons with Irene some years ago, before I went to compete on American Idol.
It was the first time I really worked on breath support and I liked that Irene teaches techniques based on the Italian School.
It made a lot of sense and I was finally able to use my head voice and falsetto in a free way.
Great teacher, great lady.
